ELECTRIC FIELDS APPARATUS |

This apparatus enables electric field patterns to be shown in much the same way that magnetic fields are demonstrated with iron filings, either by direct viewing or on an overhead projector. The apparatus comprises a clear plastic dish. 90 x12mm diameter x depth, and base 140x125mm, which carries a pair of 4mm socket terminals/electrode holders. Alongside each terminal is a thumb screw system which permits fine height adjustment of the electrodes, Six electrodes are supplied, two ‘point source’, two ‘line source’ and two circular rings of 35 and 70mm diameter respectively.

Hand driven, mounted on a wooden base. The discharge sphere is supported on a pivoted arm, with a handle for easy adjustment.
For connecting accessories, a 4mm socket is provided at the top of the large sphere, and a 4mm earth socket is drilled in the handwheel pillar base. Spark of approx. 50mm in length is easily obtained.

The low voltage powered models is designed for operation on a 3 to 5 VB d.c. supply capable for providing in a current of 1.5 A. Power input is via a pair of colour coded 4mm sockets. Mains operated versions are provided with 1.5m of three core mains cable, the earth core of the mains lead being connected to the metal structure of the apparatus. Both voltage and mains versions also have independent 4mm earth sockets with discharger 75mm dia with handle.
