APPARATUS TO SHOW FORCE ON A CONDUCTOR IN A MAGNETIC FIELD |

Comprising a strong U-shaped magnet and a pair of brass rails with 4mm socket terminals. A brass axle with plastic discs is free to roll along the rails and completes the electrical contact between them. When the axle is placed on the rails between the poles of the magnet, and a power supply unit is connected, the axle is repelled and rolls along the rails away from the centre of the magnetic field.
Dimensions : 175 x 60 x 58mm high.

This comprises a 14 turn helix of total length 90mm and a nominal diameter of 50mm with a turn-to-turn spacing of 5mm. The helix is wound from 1.25mm diameter wire and has a 5A current-carrying capacity.

Both coils have a nominal diameter of 57mm and are mounted coaxially on a common baseplate with independent terminations. The single turn-coil is of 1.25mm diameter wire and has a maximum current-carrying capacity of 5A. The four-turn coil is of 0.71mm diameter and has a current-carying capacity of 2A.
